A massive earthquake measuring 8.9 on Richter Scale hit off Japan's eastern coast today afternoon, accompanied by a 7 meter (13 feet) Tsunami. The Tsunami hit the northern coast of Japan. Tsunami warning has also been issued for Indonesia and Hawaii, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand. According to Japan's Prime Minister, the damage has been huge. Good News: Petrol prices reduced by 56 paise per litre. The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has cut the price of petrol by 56 paise per litre. The reduction in petrol price has come amid criticism being faced by the UPA government over the hike in diesel prices and cap on subsidised LPG cylinders.

Petrol price is increased today by Rs 7.50 a litre with effect from midnight tonight. Petrol in Delhi currently costs Rs 65.64 a litre and after the increase it will be priced at Rs 73.14 per litre.
Petrol will cost Rs. 73.14 per litre in Delhi against the existing price of Rs. 65.64 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol will now cost Rs. 78.16 per litre, while in Kolkata and Chennai, it will cost Rs. 77.53 per litre.

The increase in petrol prices effective Thursday midnight by state-owned oil refiners may be followed by another hike by the end of this month, increasing inflationary pressures.
Indian Oil Corp. Ltd (IOC) is raising its price by Rs. 3.14 per litre and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd (HPCL) by Rs. 3.16 a litre in Delhi. After the latest increase, petrol will cost Rs. 66.84 a litre at IOC outlets in Delhi, Rs. 71.92 in Mumbai, Rs.71.28 in Kolkata and Rs. 70.82 in Chennai.Add a comment
